Bard AI Platform by Google: Collaborate with Generative AI | Sign Up Now on Waitlist

Google’s AI chatbot Bard launched for some users in US and UK: Here’s how it worksAfter much speculation about AI-driven chatbots, Google has finally introduced its Bard AI platform to a limited group of users. Interested users in the United Kingdom and the United States can join the waitlist at bard.google.com. Bard is described as an "early experiment" that allows users to collaborate with generative AI. According to Sissie Hsiao, product vice president, and Eli Collins, research vice president, users can use Bard to boost productivity, fuel creativity, and accelerate ideas. Bard works by generating responses based on previous words, and users can rate responses, restart the chat, or click on a "Google It" button to move to Google's search engine.

Google's blog post about Bard includes screenshots of the chatbot product, and users can type in any text they like. Although Bard does not appear to be writing a word-by-word response, Google claims it functions similarly to other generative AI chatbots. If users are not satisfied with Bard's response, they can see more results for the same inquiry by clicking the 'view other drafts' button. Unlike Microsoft's Bing chatbot, Bard lacks footnotes with web sources to assist users in verifying the correctness of the solution.

Google announced Bard in February 2023 as an alternative to ChatGPT. It seeks to combine the breadth of the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of large language models. Bard draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses. It can be an outlet for creativity and a launchpad for curiosity, helping users explain new discoveries from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build skills. Google unveiled next-generation language and conversation capabilities powered by its Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) two years ago. It has been working on an experimental conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA, which it calls Bard.
